[Article] NgCareers: The Professional Approach to Work Place Romance

Just recently, I had a friend ask me what I felt about having an affair or a relationship in the office. You see she was attracted to her boss who was equally attracted to her. Oh and by the way, the boss in question is single (are there still single men out there?), very sexy and of course, searching. She did not think there was anything wrong with it and besides, her biological clock is fast ticking away. The sad thing was that there was a strict policy against any sort of romance in the office. Her question got me thinking and I decided to do some research as to why organizations, some not all, have policies against dating. I came up with this. First, we should start by summarizing the reasons why you wouldn’t want to allow dating or romance in the workplace: 1. Potential cases of sexual harassment 2.possible cases of retaliation 3.Impact on co-worker morale 4. Distraction 5. Favoritism 6. Drama resulting from the breakup 7. Rumor mill 8. Decline in ...

[Article] 8 Annoying Things Nigerian Girls do at Concerts By Etcetera

I was watching entertainment news on TV with a couple of friends and it got to a part where Tuface was on stage performing and a girl who probably was as drunk as a skunk, dragged herself on the stage and started hugging him and even took off her shirt . What is actually wrong with Naija babes at concerts? How do you expect your boyfriend to feel watching his girlfriend on national TV jumping around Tuface on stage like a chimpanzee wearing just a bra and with boobs wobbling from side to side? Well, Tu-baba surely didn’t mind. He probably would have grabbed at those bouncy boobs if it wasn’t a concert. Twale Baba!!! Here are some of the annoying things Naija babes do at concerts. 1. Taking pictures the entire show:  I get it. You want to show all your friends on Facebook and Twitter that you were at the concert. Fine. Take a photo. Take five if you want. But please, don’t take 1000! You always manage to hold your camera right in my line of sight. You don’t even look lik...

[Article] Lessons from Barack Obama’s Life Story

W hy is Obama’s life story motivational? This candidate started with the biggest disadvantage right from the name. You change one letter in the last name and then he is the most hated name in America - Osama! His middle name is Hussain a Muslim name an enigma for Christian voters. If you go through his life history then this is a sensational story with twists and changes. It is motivational because he has fulfilled the dream of every American citizen that if we believe in ourselves, it is only in this country this rise to Presidency is possible. He is black (Although his mother and grandparents are white) and racism still exists in America and some conservative whites are not yet ready for a Black President. REFLECTION: That They May Have Life And Have It Abundantly

I magine for a moment: Two bosses are trying to employ you. One tells you, “I’m going to take everything you have; I'm not going to pay you a cent." The other says, "I'm going to give you a generous salary plus some bonuses, expected perks, and full benefits." That's not a hard choice, right? But many people are working for the evil boss and wondering why their lives are so miserable. Could it be you? Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). Jesus is saying that, in life, you can work for one of two bosses: Jesus or the devil. Jesus wants to give you a rich and fulfilling life, but the devil just wants to take from you: take your peace, your family, and eventually, your life. Which one do you want to work for? Maybe you have been unknowingly working for the devil, but you can change all that today. Put your trust in Jesus completely and begin to experience H...

Can Money Really Buy Happiness?

If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap If you want happiness for a day, go fishing If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune If you want happiness for a lifetime, help someone else The quote above is the appropriate translation of a Chinese proverb. But, if you ask me, I think that proverb needs some editing because they missed out a salient point or piece of information which is, if you want happiness for a lifetime, help someone with a part of the fortune you inherited. So, what really is happiness? I think it to be nothing more than just a state of the mind. What also is money? In similar vein, I would simply call it nothing but a material means of exchange for things in the material world. What impasse do we have then? It is not probable to acquire things of the mind i.e. immaterial things with a material form of exchange which is money.  But, holding on to that position would bring about a lot of logical conundrum. Let us consider whether a state of mind can a...

When the Right Emulates the Left On Censorship and Why It’s Wrong

An athletic apparel maker has pulled a t-shirt and apologized after the shirt’s design caused a massive uproar. The shirt evokes a popular image from the Battle of Iwo Jima, a key victory in World War II which thousands of US marines paid for with their lives. Only instead of soldiers raising the US flag, the shirt produced by Under Armour depicted teens raising a basketball hoop. It understandable that satirizing what is considered by many to be an image associated with the sacrifices made by American servicemen would elicit outrage. The design was indeed tasteless and offensive. The problem is that when we on the right use that offense to justifying pressuring companies to censor themselves, we are emulating the very behavior we so often deride of the left. The right often scoffs at the regular reports of leftist outrage. Every day it seems some new controversy is born when some group or another becomes offended. Generally these groups include feminists, social justice warriors, mem...
